E-Tran board


  • Not suitable to be used with a laser pointer because of the risk of retina damage to the communication partner from the laser.

  • A non-electronic communication board made from clear Perspex for face-to-face communication. It can be used by a person who has limited speech and motor control. It allows a person to spell out words using eye movement to communicate their wishes with their communication partner. It is a great low tech option to have as a back up when electronic communication devices stop working.

    The board is positioned between the user and the person they are communicating with.

    The letters and numbers are grouped and displayed in eight sections around the board.

    The user selects letters by pointing with their eyes at the letter groups.

    Letters most used are called high frequency letters, such as A, E, I, N, O, R, S and T which are displayed as one in each letter grouping highlighted in a text box. These high frequency letters are selected by a single stage glance, whilst all other letters are selected by two stage glances, first at the colour and then at the location of the letter.
